Home Net Buyer's Guide

The home net

Trendy, elegant, and excellent value for money, the home net is increasingly popular in both houses and flats. Whether installed vertically as an airy guardrail, or horizontally as a suspended floor net, there is no limit to how creative you can be with a home net.

Home nets allow you to create a seaside atmosphere, while letting daylight filter through into any room.

All our models can withstand weights of up to 200 kg/m2, while providiing you with a sensation of floating while on it. Still not sure what kind of net to choose? This Buyer's Guide is meant for you! We'll walk you through everything you need to know about home nets!

Why choose a France Trampoline home net?

After having started to design trampolines for catamarans in 2007, France Trampoline went on to apply its know-how to designing home nets. We had a fairly wide range of technical nets for sailing vessels, and realized that the ressemblance between a multi-hull net and a net used to cover a void on a mezzanine was very similar. The constraints and resistances must be the same to hold up the weight of people lying on a suspended net over a void at home, and others lying or manoeuvring on a catamaran net at sea.

So it was only natural that France Trampoline began designing custom-made home nets.

Home net uses

Our nets may be installed both indoors and outdoors because they are extremely robust. Below are some of the different ways to use a home net:

  • INDOOR NET & MEZZANINE:

A net suspended horizontally over a mezzanine will create a new, functional space in your home. This space will rapidly become everyone's favorite place to recline and relax!

  • GUARDRAIL AND HAND RAIL:

We design nets to install vertically to create protective barriers. Used as a guardrail, the net will protect family members against falls on balconies, staircases, and mezzanines.

  • SUNBED:

The sunbed is a net installed outdoors that acts as a suspended bed. If a wide number of hoteliers provide these sunbeds as amenities for their guests, an increasingly large number of private residential owners are also installing them. Generally installed in a wooden frame above a swimming pool, in a forest, or in a garden, sunbeds offer unsurpassed moments of relaxation.

Where to install the net

The installation hardware we provide is meant to be used in installations on concrete or wooden walls. Wooden beams should be able to accommodate hardware such as 80-mm or 120-mm eye screws, or the 50-mm screws of the pad eye plates. Please note that the home net cannot be fastened to a plaster wall or drywall.

Maximal weight limit on the home net

The nets we provide are extremely robust. The mesh alone can withstand up to 210 kg/m², to which we add a tension rope that can withstand up to 2,500 kg, and fixation poiints positioned every 150 mm that, based on the type of fixation point chosen, can withstand between 60 kg and 300 kg. To sum up, if the installation instructions are strictly followed, your suspended net will be extremely resistant and able to hold the weight of several people.

Braided and knotted nets

There are two main categories of nets, braided nets and knotted nets. If you wish to install a net over a void to relax on, we recommend that you choose a braided net. Braided nets are more comfortable and softer to the touch than a knotted net, which has little knots at every one of the net's intersections.

However, a knotted net is more aesthetic, and makes for an ideal guardrail or hand rail.

With these parameters we can draw up a precise quote and email it to you, with photos and technical specifications so that you may be absolutely certain of your choice.

  • Step 2 - The measurements

Since our home nets are custom-made, it is important for us to get them right the first time. This is why we ask you to provide us with the exact measurements of the void to fill. We count on regular conversations with our customers to fulfull their requirements and design the product that best suits their needs.

Once all the information has been validated by both parties, you will receive a customer sign-off and delivery to return to us. Then we will begin designing your home net. We will keep in touch with you to keep you abreast of the net's manufacturing progress, and may need you to approve of certain decisions during this process. Manufacturing times are generally between two and three weeks.
